Chet Faliszek

Chet Faliszek is an American video game writer.

Career

Faliszek is a co-creator of the Old Man Murray website (1997), which ran until 2002. Old Man Murray was a commentary and reviews site well-known for its mocking and bitter tone. In 2005, he was hired by Valve Corporation. Faliszek was one of the writers for the Half-Life and Portal series storylines. He also personally wrote the story for Left 4 Dead. In 2017, Faliszek left the company to create other projects. Later that year, he joined Bossa Studios and started to lead new Seattle-based studio. In 2018, he also joined the for Vertigo Games advisers team.

Famous works

His most famous works include Half-Life 2 series, Portal series, Left 4 Dead, and Counter-Strike. Commenting on Left 4 Dead, Chet states that there is less the story mode is made to be replayable. He suggests that if there are no pauses for long dialogues the game goes naturally and more fluid. It builds tension through these periods and then even builds the whole story.
